Five flowery tips to flavour your furniture for spring

It might not seem like it with the weather still being wet & wintry, but believe it or not spring is in fact just around the corner. As the weather prepares to get warmer and the days get longer, we’ve got these five tips for you to celebrate the season of renewal with the appropriate sunny exuberance.

1. A splash of colour

Nothing can make you feel that spring is in the air like a pop of vibrant colour. Swap out some of those darker and cozier winter throw pillows for fun and bright, coral and turquoise pillows. Fold up your cashmere and cable knit throws, and replace them with light and vibrant ones! Or if you really want to go all in, breathe some new life into your rooms with a fresh lick of white paint on the walls to symbolise the fresh slate spring can offer, as well as maximising the flow of natural light around the house. The fresh colours and shades will simulate the sensation of seeing new flowers bloom, speaking of which…

2. Let nature in

Whether you keep plants already or you’ve always wanted to introduce a flowery presence into your house, there’s no better time than spring to introduce some new life into your personal home ecosystem. There are so many advantages to keeping plants; they oxygenate your spaces and can improve your mood considerably. Whether it’s a large centerpiece bouquet, mason jars with fresh cut wild flowers, or tiny bud vases with tulips, flowers can be incorporated into any design.

3. Floral prints

If keeping plants isn’t your thing though, bring the outside in with fabric prints which take inspiration from nature. Mix and match the colors and patterns to create the eclectic look. Floral print fabrics can be used on curtains, pillows or even custom upholstery. Accessorize the room with leaf print pillows, wall prints and maybe a pastoral landscape or two.

4. Spring cleaning

Apart from dancing around a maypole, it’s the single most important spring ritual; the spring clean. This is the perfect time to renew your space by making way for the new by clearing away the old. Get rid of unnecessary knick-knacks, and really clean up the surfaces around your house. One neat trick is to cover your upholstered furniture with crisp, white, cotton or linen slipcovers, providing an instant facelift for any room.

5. Update & upgrade

If you really want to feel renewed, spring is the perfect time to start a renovation project. When starting a new project, the first room to consider is the kitchen. With the average person spending up to 80% of their time in the kitchen—cooking, cleaning, entertaining—it’s often the first room we like to upgrade. Wendyhouse Interiors and our team of professionals can guide you through every step so that you can go into the warmer months feeling like you and your house are more rejuvenated than ever!
